I thought it be a nice idea to stitch a lamp shade to help customers think about alternative items to stitch. This is a demi-shade by Amanda Lawford on 13 count. I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out though looking at it now I think the butterflies wings should have been done using some sort of long and short stitch. I sent it off to Marlene's for finishing. I especially love the coordinating twisted cord but not convinced about the pom-pom trim. I had envisioned glass beads or something that leans towards a dressy look and pom-poms just scream casual to me. I used a many different threads for this rummaging through my stash. Any opinions on the finishing would be appreciated.

I've decided Mindy's stockings are really meant for Santa's elves. They can be finished open at the top for small gifts. Or to hang on a door or as a stand up with small toys or greens poking out the top. EIther way they are fun and not just another stocking with a familiar motif ~ perfect for the less traditional holiday decor. Use of metallics could really make these sparkle and sing. Approximate size 8.5 x 4.5" Regular price 88. Trunk show price $66.00

If enough interest is expressed it would be nice to do this as a monthly stitch-in. Collect them all, perfect for gift giving come autumn and the Holidays. Deadline to sign up March 31st, 2010.
A tree in a tree. I think its a fun play with a Mindy tree in a real wood box that came from a tree. Mindy's tree is full of wonder with stars and moons and a playful border fun for all kinds of stitches. I have to point out that its a real wood box, none of that composite crap with a sprayed on gloss finish. Something about real wood even when its gets a few dings and scratches can just look loved and appreciated. Hinged box 98. Autumn Tree Canvas 67.00 (thats 20% off). Friends Forever 46.40 (this is 20% off too).
Mindy has quite the collection for heart lovers. All heart canvas's 25% off thru March 25th.

Four canvases for those stitchers who love doing the Vogue style women. My understanding is the artist is the same as the Vogue women from Lee and Barbara Russell. Since I can't say with any certainty I won't go in to details. Though kudo's to Barbara Russell who does give credit to the artist, Clarice. The eyes are distinct. Three are from Sophia. The smaller two are 72. each and the larger one with the sun hat is on sale for 97. The Lady with the Birds is from Barbara Russell, sale price is 109.

Three new Kate Molineaux / Shore Bird Studio canvases arrived this week. She is one of my favorite "artistic" designers. These pieces are great choices for those who just enjoy doing basketweave. They are so pretty on their own, and would work up very nice in Splendor, Silk & Ivory and possibly Vineyard Classic (I've yet to try VC on 13 to know the coverage). They are on 13 count and measure 9" x 9" and retail for under 90. I really enjoy Kate's sense of color and as mentioned in the title I often notice a touch of turquoise in many of her canvas's at times when I least expect to see it.
